OLD HEART & AFTER

Sitting patiently on rollicking chair
I casually observed the grey hair
A life proudly lived until now
Leaving a lineage to showoff

That pain crept up near chin
Engulfing the arms to chest
Ignorance was always bliss
Denial foretelling the abyss

They were all around my sons
How lucky with the loved ones
Their smile gave life a purpose
I asked god for more seconds

Then the funny horror struck
Freezing up the way to breath
Curtains kept falling on eye
Sounds looped of manic cry

Rain drops broke the sleep
Lying eagle spread in creek
A child asked what's the need
"Life" came the words in dread

Heart not accepting the afterlife
My people I missed and cried
Child took a pity and smiled
"Take some more" his face riled

I blinked and saw my son
Teary eyed he held my hand
Wires and machines surround
I hoped this was my world

Make up with the dear life
I saw my lovely longing wife
I was back to my descendants
The child smiled & disappeared

Value of life I harshly learned
One's who matter stayed
Can I rise up as a phoenix
Question left me in a fix
Giving it up I decided
to enjoy the seconds.
